On The Mend

I have been most lax at thanking some new friends for awards they have so generously given me in the last week or so. I do apologise, I have been busy getting used to my new life, practicing my computing skills and trying not to bite my foot in a Perfect Tosca manner!

Scruffy and Lacie and Butchy and Snickers gave me this "I LOVE YOUR BLOG" award. Thank you so much, I am honoured. I know a lot of you have received this already. I will pass it onto Oscar's darling Faya.

And little cutie Clover, and handsome Marvin gave me this Halloween themed award. You're making me blush! I'll give this to Mojo, as she is a sweet little Airedale puppy and I know she'll be a great real-life friend to myself and Cassidy.

Thank you for all your extremely kind comments on my lampshade head. I am feeling rather less foolish now as it seems a number of you have been subjected to the same indignity. I am managing to get about a little better, and when I am under close supervision, ma and pa have let me have a snooze without it, bliss!

As you can see, my foot was fairly sore. It looks worse as the vet shaved my hair off as she said that helped control the infection significantly.

The darker area is tough skin. Ma thinks this suggests that I have had this problem for a while and it wasn't treated. The fresher raw bit is where I was biting at it. Looking at it now I am not impressed with myself for making such a mess of my foot! It has healed up lots now though and thanks not the girly pink pills I am much less itchy. I finish taking them tomorrow morning and to be frank I'm a bit sad, as I was getting them hidden in a nice piece of cheese. Note to others - pretend you don't like taking tablets and you too could enjoy the same lumps of delicious fromage! Hopefully this is the last of the infection, but if it flares up again it seem the vet will have to do some investigations to try and deduce the root of the problem.

I went to talk to Oscar to tell him how silly I felt being a big conehead, and he told me ma and pa made him wear one too! Do these people relish making dogs look daft? He told me the looking forlorn thing really works well for getting cuddles and treats. Thank you for the tips little man.

See how well Oscar had perfected the sad cone head face? I need to work harder I think!

We are hopefully off to see the pups tomorrow or Wednesday, and we should definitely be able to decide which one is Cassidy, or perhaps young Cassidy will choose us. Either way it's all very exciting. I passed Oscar's old training school on Saturday morning as the young puppies were going into class and I had an excellent time playing with a baby Labrador. His owners were astonished when ma told them I was 10 - "10 months?" they said, har har har!
Toodle pip,

Harry, your paw certainly looks an angry colour. You will have to wear your "stiff upper lip" and not lick it better after your pink medication finishes.

Do you think you might be able to wangle a few pieces of cheese still with a "woe is me " look. Play on your Ma and Pa's soft side!!!

Molly and Taffy

PS. Have fun when you go and choose your new play mate this week.

Harry Boy!

I'm not surprised those folks thought you were 10 months old. You still seem like a young pup to me!

Glad things are healing up. That patch on your foot looks mighty itchy. Maybe if you promise you won't go near your foot with your mouth they'll let you take the lampshade off.

Also, it's good to know you are still communing with our Oscar Bud. I miss him so, but he's full of great advice. He was a good boy.

Goober love,
Stanley

Hi Harry,

Ooohhh, your ouchie looks like it really hurt. I'm glad you are on the mend. I think it's wonderful that Oscar was able to pass on his cone head wisdom. Add dogs should milk as much guilt as they can when they have to wear the dreaded CONE! Can't wait to see you with the infamous Cassidy. I hope you two become the best of buds. Have a great time!! Oh, take a lot of pictures for us nosy dogs out here in blogging land!

Your pal,
Kirby

oh harry, the wound looks painful for me. i once got my head shave because of a wound too. sigh! i would say shaving the leg is definitely much better than shaving the head like me. afterall, i'm a casanova, no bald casanova only FULL OF HAIR casanova!

about dopey sitting pretty waiting for his food. i'm sure you could do that too. dopey was pretty rude during meal time too but mom and dad managed to get him trained on that. i've been doing that for ages! i'm a good boy.

Congrats on your awards Harry! You really deserve it. Oh, I want to offer you an award too. If you visit Oscar's blog, he has the Rockin Dog Blogger & Rockin Guy Blogger. I wanna award them both to you! I know I', not a guy but nevermind right? Since Oscar got it, I think you deserve it too. Oh & that infection looks bad. You poor thing! I hope it will heal soon... Don't lick it too much tho.

Joe Stains said...

you really did quite a number on that foot of yours! I am glad oscar was able to offer you some advice. I have also heard that if you smash that cone into the back of the knees of your human they might take the cone off early so you arent knocking them down all the time!

Princess Patches said...

Hi Harry,
Joe Stains has a good idea, there! The cones might work for dogs, but they are a hazzard for humans! I'm glad you are still visiting with Oscar. He can give you lots of good advice. We are all waiting for Cassidy. We hope you will get along great with him/her!

Teka passes along the idea that if you still have the cone on when you visit the puppies, you can use it to scoop them up one at a time to get closer to them. She had to wear a cone when she had her fixit surg., and says that was her favorite use for it. Once she got my whole bowl in there! She also likes Joey's butt head ideas.

kissies for your paw from Gus and Teka

Hi Harry - Thanks for stopping by Dogs' Aye View. I wasn't subjected to the cone-head thing. My dogmom usually makes me wear the basket muzzle of death instead. I mean, at least I can whack Opie with the cone, ya know?

Oh, you poor dear man! The indignity of it all is just frightening! You should sit down and have a chat with that infection - that's what I did with my pancreatitis and it's behaving better now.

I'm glad you have Oscar to talk to about it... and it's good to know he understands.

Your paw sure looks sore. Hope it gets better soon. I commiserate with you on the lampshade. I had to wear one too sometime back. Everyone in my family had a good laugh at me when I had to wear mine. Hope yours are kinder to you. Lampshades are the worst.

That does look sore! Maybe this conehead life isn't so bad after all. Hope you get better soon, though, so you don't get too fed up. Bet you daren't bark in there in case you deafen yourself.

For some reason the pic of you communing with Oscar reminds me of the old HMV logo. Even though the HMV dog was looking in the cone, not out of it.

Forgive me for being slightly cheeky, but I haven't recovered from your comment about me sniffing your muscle butt. I've been dreaming about that future opportunity ever since!!

big hugs
