Anyway, just before it all went pear shaped on the old Internet front, behaviour like this made ma and pa realise that maybe I was getting a bit too hairy. Yes, every evening I would sleep right by the front door in a vain effort to keep cool and get a bit of a breeze.
Yes, yes I know I do look exceeding cute with lots of fur, but it was getting so thick and heavy and making me feel like an old man. Well yes, I am aware that I AM an old man, but I don't have to feel like one do I?
Even Cassidy had a quiet word in my ear to let me know I was looking a bit, ahem, scruffy!
So ma made the call to the groomer and got me booked in. The night before pa gave me a really good going over with the brush so the grooming lady didn't have even more of a mammoth job on her hands (no comments about me looking like a hairy mammoth either thank you!).
Now you may remember that when I came to live with ma and pa, I had certain issues with having my legs and feet touched. Well I am happy to report that that is now a thing of the past.
Here pa is brushing my sensitive leg, but I couldn't care in the slightest.
And after I had been thoroughly brushed, it was time for my teeth to be done. Again, I really wasn't keen on this when I came to live here, but now when I see ma or pa with the toothbrush, I sit ready and waiting, tail wagging like mad. I admit that's mostly because the toothpaste tastes delicious, but I obviously do like having cleaner teeth too!
Once I was all done, it was time for a well deserved snuggle with pa. I love him so, so much and I don't care if that's not manly.
So the next day we headed off to Hair of the Dog, the grooming salon. Pa explained to Elaine the groomer that I can be wary of having my legs/feet and around my private bits handled but to be fair but firm with me. She was fine and said she's used to dogs who hate being groomed so not to worry. Ma gave her some instructions on how she wanted me cut and they were off. I realised I was going to like Elaine when she offered me one of her sweets, but ma said I wasn't to have them, boo.
Anyway, I was bathed, blow dried, clippered, bathed, dried again and preened to perfection. It took about 3 1/2 hours in all! Elaine gave ma a call and she came back to get me along with Cassidy who was going to have her nails clipped. Ma was very pleased with how I looked, and Elaine said I had one little grumble when she was brushing me near my private parts, so gold star for me!
Cassidy was a very good girl about having her nails done and home we headed. Once we got home, Cassidy insisted on having a good old sniff at me and declared that I smelled like a girl, charming!
So what do you think? Don't I look younger? And slimmer? Ma and pa are happy with my Airecut apart from my thighs/back legs where Elaine needed to take my coat shorter, but it's fine and we'll just make sure we explain next time.
Look, I have a neck again! Pa had to make my collar a lot smaller. Ma and pa were both surprised at how black my saddle actually is under all the fuzz.
Pretty handsome, eh? I certainly don't think I look a week off being 11. I have been feeling so much livelier since my Airecut, playing a lot more with Cassidy and generally seeming much perkier.
After all that grooming I was ready for a little nap though.
Cassidy wanted me to include a photo of her. She still looks like a scruffy puppy! She'll be 6 months old tomorrow. Gosh, doesn't time fly!
Well, we still have lots to tell you about - Cassidy's got an award from class, she's heard from another sibling, I have been doing lots of playing off lead during walks, and we have been tagged a few times too. We'll catch up on all this soon.
